A DAM great night at the annual HIT dinner

Having recently joined the team at DAM, I was fortunate enough to attend my first HIT event – the ‘Midsomer Nights’ dinner at the Hilton hotel in Glasgow with a few of my fellow colleagues – we were even fortunate enough to share a table with our friends at Apex Hotels.

As the showcase event for the hospitality industry in Scotland, this year certainly didn’t disappoint. Featuring heavenly dishes and divine wine, the night in itself certainly showcased the extraordinary level of talent we have within the hospitality industry. Not to mention the unforgettable entertainment, from waving our napkins along to the trio of opera singers to playing air guitar with the Queen tribute band, it certainly was a night to remember.

And of course, that’s not to forget the main reason behind the event itself – raising funds for scholarships and bursaries within the industry. Hosting a range of auctions, the night offered unlimited opportunities for guests to dig deep and support the industry in any way they could. In fact, one of the DAM team, Alastair Pickard was fortunate enough to bid for and win a private dining experience at Principal George in Edinbrugh.

Having recently hosted our own HR Hospitality breakfast at the In & Out Club London, where a range of industry experts – Andrew Stembridge, Eamonn Cole, Liz Cave and Peter Reilly discussed the lack of opportunities young people have to enter into the hospitality industry, we understand how truly vital it is to support the industry and help to bridge the gap between school and the hospitality industry.

So, for as long as HIT continue to support the industry by building greater opportunities for young people, you best believe we’ll be there to offer any help and support we can each DAM step of the way.
