You've worked all your life... isn't it time you had some DAM fun.
We can help you make the most of your retirement
We know that the transition from work to retirement is a difficult one. DAM aims to advise, reassure and put a smile on your face as you plan for your retirement... whenever it may be. Our planning will allow you to enjoy the rest of your life knowing your pension is there to support your leisurely ambitions.
My pension looks sorted, why do I need retirement advice?
Having saved year after year, many workers nearing retirement assume that they’ll have plenty in the pension pot and that the hard work in retirement planning is done.
That isn’t quite the case, however, so it really does pay to receive some independent financial advice as you approach your retirement. There are so many options out there in terms of how to make the most of the pension pot you’ve been saving all those years and DAM can work out which one is right for you.
We’ll consider how flexible you need your pension to be, whether you have a spouse or dependants to provide for, if you should take an annuity and much more. After speaking to us, you can be confident that you’re selecting the right pensions choice.
After working so hard to accumulate those savings, wouldn’t it be a waste to take the wrong decision now and end up out of pocket?
Doesn’t the government offer free retirement advice?
No, the UK government offers free retirement “guidance.”
Although it isn’t always made clear by the media, this is actually quite different from the regulated retirement advice offered by IFAs like DAM. The guidance from the government will only point you in the right direction, whereas proper retirement advice will outline specific options to you.
The free retirement guidance from the government may even recommend that you seek regulated retirement advice, so it’s easy to see that the two are quite different concepts. As the Financial Conduct Authority explains, “Guidance does not replace financial advice given by regulated advisers.”
The free guidance offered from April 2015 is provided by The Pensions Advisory Service and the Citizens Advice. The quality of that guidance, however, has even been widely criticised by pension industry experts, with many individuals continuing to go along the tried and tested independent financial adviser route and DAM is happy to offer complete face-to-face impartial retirement advice of the highest quality.
It pays to have a professional financial adviser with experience look into your various retirement options. Your retirement is too important to make the wrong decision, so let us put you at ease and ensure your retirement advice sets you up for the best years possible.
